The Bottom Line

Fujitsu LifeBook B6210 is just too specialized for an ultraportable that causes it to be deficient in many areas compared to similarly priced systems.

Guide Review - Fujitsu LifeBook B6210

9/6/06 – While tablet PCs never really caught on with the consumer market, there were certain aspects of the touch screen that were very useful. Fujitsu brings some of those features to the LifeBook B6210 with its 12.1” touch screen LCD. While the system doesn't come standard with the Tablet OS, it features proprietary software that enables certain features that can be useful for the business traveler.

In order to reduce battery drain, Fujitsu opted to use the Intel Core Solo U1400. This has decreased performance over the Duo models when it comes to multitasking, but it does provide better battery life. It is matched up with 512MB of PC2-4200 that should let it run a few applications before slow downs from the limited memory kick in.

Storage is one of the major weak spots for the LifeBook B6210. Most notable of these is the lack of an optical drive included with the system. This means that the system does not even have a CD-ROM to load software programs into it. An external unit is available as an option but it adds to the cost. The hard drive space is also quite low with only 40GB of space with limited performance from the 4200rpm spin rate.

All of these items that are restricted make the Fujitsu LifeBook B6210 a notebook that is suited only to a select few users. Most would be better served by a more well rounded notebook computer.
