9/6/05 Fujitsu's LifeBook P1510D is one of the smallest ultraportables available on the market. Its diminutive dimensions result in a weight of just over two pounds. Of course, this small size comes from the lack of a number of features.
In order to get such a small size, Fujitsu used a smaller 8.9 WSVGA LCD screen. It has a very limited 1024x600 resolution and can be quite difficult to read with less than perfect eyesight. The screen also is touch sensitive but the unit does not use the Windows XP Tablet operating system restricting what it can be used for.
Powering the P1510D is the Intel Pentium M 753 (1.2GHz) processor. This is slightly faster than what most ultraportable systems use but still has very low voltage operation for very strong battery life. It is matched up with 512MB of PC3200 DDR memory that should let it run all office applications without too much problem.
Storage on the P1510D is very limited. In order to get the system so small, it uses the smaller format hard drive that limits the overall storage space. The base system is a 30GB hard drive that is smaller than average. Of course the big problem is the P1510D lacks any sort of optical drive unlike the other P series ultraportables. Fujitsu has opted to remove this in order to decrease the systems overall size.
Overall, previous P series ultraportables from Fujitsu are preferred as they offer a complete system without compromising portability.
