3/20/06 Fujitsu was one the primary companies selling completely integrated ultraportable notebooks with the LifeBook P series. It has come a long way since its original release to the current P7120. The P7120 is powered by the Intel Pentium M 752 ULV processor that provides good performance with very low power consumption. The system only comes with a base of 256MB of PC2-3200 DDR2 memory. It would be nice for it to have 512MB for improved performance.
The big feature of the LifeBook was the integrated optical drive. The P7120 uses a 24x CD/DVD combo drive. This allows it to playback DVD movies or create music or data CDs as needed. Many systems now ship with DVD burners, but this is still good for an ultraportable. The 30GB hard drive is a bit small though and will limit the amount of files that can be stored on the notebook.
The Intel GMA 900 integrated graphics is a step up for the P7120 over the previous versions Extreme 2 graphics engine. It still lacks 3D performance but that generally is not a requirement for an ultraportable. The 10.6 widescreen LCD has a good resolution that makes it excellent as a portable DVD player when traveling. It could be difficult to read for some with limited vision though.
Overall, the Fujitsu LifeBook P7120 is still a very good ultraportable notebook, it just doesn't have the same level or performance as previous models compared to some other notebook available.
