Readers have the opportunity to pick the company that produced the best laptops last year. To submit a company for nomination, please include the name of the company and your reason you think they produced the best laptops. Don't worry if someone else has submitted the company already. The companies with the highest number of nominations will then move onto voting. Remember, this is a manufacturer and not a specific product.

Lenovo

Lenovo's ThinkPad series has always been a reliable laptop with some great features.

ASUS

It's lightweight, with a bright screen. I like it better than my previous Sony and I never thought I would say that.

HP/Compaq Presario

HP/Compaq has always produced good laptops, and this year was no exception. The Presarios this year had fast processors, more than adequate memory, and great features for a pre-built laptop.

Acer

I can only compare them to all the Dell and IBM Thinkpads used by the rest of the family. My Acer is the only one that hasn't had a meltdown or other major problems all year. And I use it daily.

Toshiba All Around

Toshiba Has Created a Great Netbook and Other Fine Laptops Throughout This Year

ASUS

ASUS builds highly competitive laptops in terms of performance and value. They also back their systems with the best standard warranty in the industry- two years limited hardware warranty + one year of accidental damage protection are standard on most model lines!

Gateway

I've had my laptop for three years with no problems

Sony swings

If you can't afford a Mac, then go for a Sony. Great style and solid quality are the hallmarks here, but pricing is a bit stiff.

Lenovo/IBM Thinkpad

I 've been using Lenovo and IBM Thinkpad series of laptops for the last few years. Except the T42p fan replacement, I did not face any issues on them. They worked for me almost 16-18 hrs a day and still going...

Toshiba Satellite

i've owned 3 generations of satellites and have always found them to be excellent laptops. currently using the m305d-s4831

Alienware M15x

Based on the price and reliable customer support, I recommend Alienware's M15x series (or 17x if you have a few extra bucks to spend on a bigger display). This laptop is a gamer's dream but can also prove to be quite a powerhouse for other processor and memory-intensive applications.

Apple - totally

I love my MacBook Pro. It's fabulous. I'm having a slight problem with the display, but the computer is nearly 2 years old, so I'm not complaining much. I love Apple computers.

ASUS

ASUS - they have the best netbooks and laptops!!!!!!!!!
—Guest ASUS

MacBook Pro

The Apple MacBook Pro is the one that I would nominate. It's the best laptop evah! And yes, it's expensive, but I've had mine for 3 years, and any Windoze laptop I ever had only lasted at most a year and a half.
