- HP/Compaq has always produced good laptops, and this year was no exception. The Presarios this year had fast processors, more than adequate memory, and great features for a pre-built laptop.

- I can only compare them to all the Dell and IBM Thinkpads used by the rest of the family. My Acer is the only one that hasn't had a meltdown or other major problems all year. And I use it daily.

- Based on the price and reliable customer support, I recommend Alienware's M15x series (or 17x if you have a few extra bucks to spend on a bigger display). This laptop is a gamer's dream but can also prove to be quite a powerhouse for other processor and memory-intensive applications.

- I love my MacBook Pro. It's fabulous. I'm having a slight problem with the display, but the computer is nearly 2 years old, so I'm not complaining much. I love Apple computers.

MacBook Pro
- The Apple MacBook Pro is the one that I would nominate. It's the best laptop evah! And yes, it's expensive, but I've had mine for 3 years, and any Windoze laptop I ever had only lasted at most a year and a half.
